Alaska: Day Two

Springfield, OR to Yale, BC

06/13/2010, 474 miles

Lots more droning I-5. Changed $100 US for about $98.50 Canadian inside the Duty Free store about 100 feet from the border. The border crossing went fine, they asked to see passports but not Canadian insurance cards. The scenery in Canada seemed instantly different and spectacular. Both bikes running exceptionally well. I'm a little nervous that the Bandit's gas leak might return at some point during the trip, but have no cause for concern regarding the bullet-proof SV650.

We pulled into the Emory Creek campground around 7:30pm. It was beautiful and immaculate. The caretaker was busy with a rake and leaf blower. Water was drinkable. $20 for the night, noticed it didn't get dark until about 9:30. When he came by to collect our fee he asked where we were going, so we told him "Arctic Circle." He said, "Good travelin' eh?" He spoke Canadian!

Note the gravel parking area, which initially caused us a little hesitation. Little did we know. Another thing about Emory Creek, it's close to a working railroad. Beautiful campground but trains roll by every hour, all night.
