Oregon 2013 Day 5

A day of fun riding in the Trinity Alps area.  Starting at Arcata we headed East on 299 to Weaverville, then about 10 or 15 miles to the junction of 299 and Highway 3 south.  Lunch at Irene's in Hayfork, then we decided the 24-mile section of 3 between 299 and Hayfork was such a great road we'd go back and ride it again in spite of the terrible heat.

Highway 3/36 junction

 We took Highway 36 west to where it dead-ends at Fortuna, and then north on 101 back to Arcata. Once again it was great to be back on the coast.

• Hayfork - 78 miles (counting re-run of Highway 3/299 junction to Hayfork, mileage approximate)
